Lab Ten News staffers watched the 2006 documentary, Boys of Baraka, about an experimental boarding school in Kenya which succeeded with at-risk eighth graders from Baltimore City public schools until civil war in Kenya forced its closure. The staff wanted to put their investigative reporting skills to work to discover what happened to the Baltimore boys.
